Justin Bieber, new on the scene. Young girls flock to see him. He made his start at a singing competition and is one of the biggest selling artists today.

Justin Drew Bieber was born March 1, 1994 in Stratford, Ontario. Justin is the oldest child of three (he has a younger half-brother, and younger half-sister.) He taught himself to play the trumpet, piano and the drums.

The Beginning of Justin's Music Career

Justin decided to enter a singing competition in his native Startford when he was 12 years old. He didn't win, but he came in 2nd. Not bad for a boy who had never had a singing lesson competing against people who had had professional voice lessons.
Because many of his family could not attend his competition, he and his mother put the video from his performance on YouTube. Not only did his family like it, but before he knew it he had fans from across the globe subscribing to his channel. Justin would then post his versions of songs Stevie Wonder, Usher Raymond and Chris Brown to name a few.
The videos were online for a little over half a year when they were seen by former marketing director of So So Def, Scooter Braun. Scooter liked what he saw so much that he flew Justin to Atlanta to meet with him. There he also met Usher. Within a week, Justin sang for Usher and it was at that point that Usher knew Justin would be a hit. Though Usher was interested in signing Justin right then, Justin still had to audition for Justin Timberlake, who after hearing the young Bieber, also wanted to sign him to a contract.

Justin Signs with Island Records

Though both Justin Timberlake and Usher wanted to sign Bieber, Usher knew he needed more help to persuade Justin Bieber to sign with him. Usher helped get Justin Bieber an audition with Antonio L.A. Reid of Island RecordsIsland Records signed him within a very short time.
Justin and his mother then moved to Atlanta, Ga. in order to be nearer to the studio and to his now record label.

His first album was released one year after signing with Island RecordsMy World, Justin's debut album featured his break out hit "One Time" which reached #20 on the Billboard Hot 100. Within 5 months, three singles from this record were charted in the Top 40 in the U.S.
Justin's Music

Justin's second album, My World 2.0 was released in March, 2010. It debuted at #1 on the U.S. Billboard 200. This made Justin the youngest solo male act to reach the top of the charts since Stevie Wonder did it in 1963. 2.0 was the second part of the My World debut album. In an interview given to the Houston Chronicle, Justin explained that, "I wanted to do something that was a little bit more R&B and that could reach out to everyone. I just wanted to be able to show my vocal abilities." It has been said that 2.0 is a little bit "edgier" than it's predecessor.
Other MediaIn September 2010, Justin will guest star on the season premiere of CSI. Announced in August of 2010, Justin will start in a movie from Paramount Studios about his life. As of untitled, the news is making waves through teen circles around the globe.

Justin's Life Outside of Music

Justin lives with his mother in Atlanta, Ga. while his father still lives in Canada. His mom travels on tour with him. He has a 4.0 in school and wants to some day attend college, though which college is yet to be determined. He is a normal teenage boy who likes sports and plays video games and likes to spend time with his family.
